So you’ve decided you’d like to learn French. You’re an absolute beginner, and don’t know where to start. Beginner A1.1 is the course for you! This course serves as a bienvenue to the French language. Throughout this course, you will discover the beauty of the French language, and cover the basics, such as introducing yourself and others (Bonjour, je m’appelle Jean), spelling and counting (un, deux, trois…), and general greetings and politeness (Salut, s’il vous plait, merci beaucoup). You’ll also learn how to ask a question, how to communicate, and explain why you are learning French.
This course is designed for complete beginners of French, and no prior knowledge is necessary..
Level A1 objectives:
- Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type.
- Can introduce yourself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where someone lives, people they know and things they have.
- Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

Already have knowledge of the French language and want to learn more?  This is the course for you. Students will learn how to make enquiries and communicate in a range of situations, such as the bank, the train station and the pharmacy. You will expand your knowledge of French grammar and learn how to talk about past events and make plans for the future. As well students will learn about cultural and historical aspects of France and put their learnings into practice through conversation, regular writing and homework.
This course is for students who have completed Beginner A1.1 and are continuing their learning at the beginner level.

You are no longer a beginner learner of French and are ready to move to the intermediate courses. You will gain a deeper understanding of French vocabulary and grammar and expand your knowledge of the cultural aspects of France.  Put your learnings into practice through conversation, regular writing, homework and role plays.
Level B1 objectives:
- Can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
- Can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken.
- Can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest.
- Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

The focus of this course is to build on your French grammar and develop more complex language structures, while enhancing your French-speaking skills with discussions and debates on a variety of subjects such as current affairs and cultural topics.
Level B2 Objectives:
- Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation.
- Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
- Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
