With the new year just begun we look forward to a year full of exciting and fun events, classes are due to commence in February and we have sent out enrollment and membership forms. Over the semester break it has been relatively quiet but be have had many emails from you wanting to know about classes. Many of us are planning a trip to France and a little knowledge of French makes any vacation more rewarding. It is far simpler when you can read and understand signs and directions and it takes less time and effort to get around. Good communication is much enhanced by language study as we would all agree.
We have kept our library open on Saturdays from 14:00 to 16:00 every week and we welcome you to drop in anytime to say hello, or simply to borrow or return some books from our great little library. We shall be open during the holidays and during term and look forward to meeting you. Our teachers and members have made good use of the library since we upgraded our resources, we have lots of brand new titles and our materials are suitable for readers at different levels - from beginner to advanced and native speaker. We also have a range of audiovisual materials and many books come with CDs - very helpful when you are just learning a new language and are trying to discover it 'melody' - a tip from one of my language teachers long ago. The most important upcoming event will be our Annual General Meeting, to be held on Sunday 16th March at the Metro Cafe in Toowoomba, 15 Railway St, from 13:30 onwards. All members who are interested can nominate for positions for 2014, we can always do with an extra pair of helping hands! We will send out nomination forms to you all well before the date. If the Alliance is to be able to continue then we do need your support - come and join us just for an hour or so to ensure we can go on providing you with quality teaching and opportunities to socialize. Our committee wishes you all a wonderful year ahead. Comments are closed.
