ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING to be held at Ortem Café - Railway St - Toowoomba Sunday 15 March 2015, 2:15 pm Dear Members, The Annual General Meeting of the Alliance Française de Toowoomba Inc. will be held in the upstairs function room of Ortem Café, with finger food provided on Sunday 15 March 2015. This is a great opportunity for you to meet, catch up, and provide feedback to the Committee on what you would like to see the Alliance do for its members this year. Please note that all Committee positions will be open for election. We encourage you to attend the AGM and also consider joining the Management Committee to have your say in the running and organisation of the Alliance. We are very fortunate to have the services of a most capable member who fulfils the role of Administrative Assistant, thus lightening the workload of Management Committee members. Our Constitution does not limit the number of Management Committee members. It does primarily provide that nominations should be in writing and lodged with the Secretary at least 14 days before the AGM. However, there is a further provision that nominations may be accepted from the floor of the meeting if there are insufficient candidates. The AGM is an important part of the year for the Alliance. We strongly encourage you to attend this event in order to give the Alliance Française a chance to exist in Toowoomba. In fact, we need to constitute a quorum to hold the AGM. We count on your commitment to help us represent and promote the French language and culture in town. Please note that only current Members are entitled to vote, so please be sure to renew your membership for 2015 if you have not already done so. In accordance with legal obligations, the Management Committee hereby notifies all members that the Association currently holds Public Liability Insurance cover in the sum of $20,000,000. There are many benefits to joining the Committee. As a member of the Committee you can further improve your French, help provide leadership and assist in the building of a very dynamic community group. Please take the time to review the role of each member of the Committee. The attached document highlights the planning focus for committee members. Involvement by more members in the Committee not only shares the load, but widens the scope of ideas for future activities and events. We look forward to your participation!
